The Safe Zone Learning, Research and Programming grant is designed to support the mission of the UA Safe Zone program. Individuals who wish to engage in programming, travel, or research specific to LGBTQIA+ identities and/or experiences. Additionally education, and/or experiences that support learning topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and intersectional experiences are encouraged to apply for grant funds. Another option would be those opportunities that support marginalized or underrepresented diverse groups.
Grants will be considered based on the following avenues:
- Programming – awards will be considered for programming related to LGBTQIA+ identities, experiences, diversity, equity, inclusion, education, and intersectional programs that must serve The University of Alabama community
- Research – awards will be considered for research projects related to LGBTQIA+ topics, identities, experiences, diversity, equity, inclusion, education, and intersectional experiences.
- Education – awards will be considered for educational related expenses dedicated to learning and providing education opportunities surrounding LGBTQIA+ topics, DEI, education, and intersectional experiences. This can include, but is not limited to, funding for travel for professional development opportunities for individuals in the UA community.
